3rd Line Messaging Applications Engineer

A leading organisation committed to building a more sustainable future through trusted, innovative solutions is seeking a 3rd Line Messaging Applications Engineer to join its dynamic and multi-skilled team. This permanent role involves supporting a range of secure messaging services within a shared infrastructure environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Incident Management: Log, triage, and assign incidents using designated toolsets. Manage incidents through to resolution, ensuring all records are accurately maintained and updated in line with documented work instructions. Escalate issues as necessary.

  • Problem Management: Conduct in-depth investigations into ongoing problem records. Analyse data from multiple sources and provide expert-level diagnostics and resolution support.

  • Monitor and resolve issues related to the Nexor X500 DSA platform.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot the Exchange 2003 Messaging System.

  • Communicate and collaborate with a designated customer liaison, acting as an intermediary between the technical team and the end user.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP).

  • Understanding of X.400 messaging standards.

  • Experience with Nexor DSA and X.500 address book replication.

  • Strong UNIX scripting knowledge.

  • Familiarity with Interoperable C4I Services (ICS).

  • Experience with Oracle 8–10g databases.

  • Practical knowledge of Solaris 10 and UNIX / HP-UX environments.

Desirable (or willingness to learn):

  • Microsoft Exchange 2003

  • Microsoft Server 2003

  • Active Directory

  • VMWare v5 / v5.5

  • ITIL framework

Working Hours:

  • Full-time, 37 hours per week.

  • Monday to Friday, covering operational hours from 08:00 to 18:00.

  • Rotational shifts (early/late) as directed by the line manager.
