Anson McCade is proud to be partnering with a leading digital transformation consultancy, hiring for a Data Architect with experience across the UK Public Sector, ideally with exposure to defence or national security projects.

This is a key role in an award-winning Data & AI team, helping shape secure, high-performance data architecture solutions for government and public health clients.

As a Data Architect, you will:

  • Act as the data SME on complex digital transformation programmes, advising on data structures, flows, governance, and sourcing

  • Lead the design and definition of secure, scalable data solutions across on-prem, cloud (AWS), and hybrid environments

  • Engage directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders in public sector environments

  • Coach and mentor junior data engineers and architects

  • Contribute to the firm’s wider data architecture capability and go-to-market strategy

You’ll bring:

  • Experience working in a consulting environment with end clients in defence, public sector, or public health

  • Strong hands-on technical background in data modelling, data analysis, metadata management, data transformation, and master data management

  • Leadership experience in delivering data architecture projects – ideally across both traditional and modern cloud-native stacks

  • Knowledge of at least 3 mainstream data technologies (e.g. AWS data services, SQL/NoSQL, Spark, Kafka, etc.)

  • Confident communicator – able to influence clients and internal stakeholders, and represent the company in external forums

  • A self-starter mindset, with the ability to lead in uncertain or fast-changing project environments

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience designing data lakes and governance models

  • Familiarity with enterprise data architecture patterns

  • Prior work involving data handling models for defence or secure environments

  • Understanding of information assurance and cloud security models
