The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate Network Security Engineer to join a multi-national information management function. This role plays a critical part in safeguarding network infrastructure and ensuring the integrity and security of systems within a 24/7 internal security response (ISR) team.
Working closely with the SOC team, you will be responsible for incident response, triage activity, and the design, implementation, and optimisation of network security solutions. You’ll also have the chance to contribute to security tool standardisation, remediate areas identified by “purple team” testing, and strengthen the resilience of a complex IT environment.
This is a dynamic role offering exposure to challenging projects, evolving threats, and collaborative cross-functional initiatives.

Essential Experience
-
Solid understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, VLANs, load balancing).

Strong hands-on expertise with firewalls (Cisco, Checkpoint, Palo Alto).

Experience with next-gen firewall features (IPS/IDS, SSL decryption, DPI).

Skilled in managing secure proxy solutions (e.g., Bluecoat, F5) with policies for filtering, SSL inspection, and monitoring.

In-depth knowledge of security protocols (IPSec, SSL/TLS, VPNs, MFA).

Strong grasp of network architectures and security zones (DMZ, internal).

Proficient with monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG, Nagios).
Desirable Skills

Knowledge of cyber security capabilities and their integration with network infrastructure.

Familiarity with Darktrace, Splunk ES, or LogRhythm.

Ability to analyse packet captures to detect malicious behaviours (C2, lateral movement, exfiltration).

Experience reviewing SOC alerts with analysts to triage Tier 1 issues effectively.

Understanding of LDAP and application traffic flow analysis.

Strong knowledge of the OSI model, network protocols (DNS, HTTP/S, SMTP, FTP/S, LDAP/S).

Experience with SIEM tools and/or network packet capture.
